Socialismo o muerte

The recent Children’s referendum was a hugely cynical exercise in PR in advance of what is likely to be a pretty draconian budget. It provided ample photo opportunities for the government to baby kiss and spout sanctimonious nonsense about protecting our vulnerable children. But more worryingly it represented another bold move by the state in insinuating itself into the sanctity of the family unit.  Manifestly children already had extensive rights under the constitution, as human beings. The government did not have to waste public money on a costly referendum that did nothing to materially change those rights. However a couple of million to extend its control further over its hapless citizens is money well spent.
