One of our favourite places for a quick mid-week bite is Caffe Italiano on Crow Street. It’s probably one of these most authentic Italians in the city, all laid-back and understated.
Its owner, Luca, started off with a small coffee shop and it has grown from there.
The food is simple, good quality and remarkably reasonable for Dublin.
The bread and olive oil is to die for, the portions are generous and I keep going back for the Melanzane Parmigiana. Cheesy heaven.
There’s also a great selection of wines and beer, including litre bottles at 12% ABV that even defeated J Mac.
The space is warm, cosy and inviting and sometimes there’s live music at the weekends.
We like to sit downstairs by the open kitchen and bar counter where you can see native Italians propped up on stools watching the football and downing espressos.
It’s a little slice of La Dolce Vita here in Dublin.
